Exhibitions

February 2010; 2010 National Painting Competition; TOSH
My art was chosen from hundreds of submissions, some as far as Quebec, to exhibit in the Old School House Gallery national art competition, co-inciding with the 2010 Olympics. There were just under 60 finalists in total.

July 2009; Group Exhibit IM Artswalk; Wells, BC
I displayed numerous pieces and gave an artists statement. This was mainly a quasi-academic venue.

April 2009 Solo Exhibition Old Ranger Station, Telkwa
For April of 2009 I was offered a solo exhibition to display my artwork at the Old Ranger Station Gallery in Telkwa, BC. I told my dad about this and he wanted in on it, too; so, it ended up being a group exhibition. My dad, an Ontario College of Art grad, excels at portraiture with chalk pastels on cardstock.

July 2008 Silent Auction Fundraiser for Houston Food Bank
I had sold a painting in order to raise money for the Houston Food Bank. The painting raised $300 and I was featured in a half-page color article in the July 30th article of Houston Today.

June 2006 Silent Auction 12 Stones Outreach, Topley Victory Church.
This was a silent auction for fund raising for when my church from Kamloops came to Topley in the summer of 2006. During this exhibition, I sold 2 paintings and kept a third.

Oct 2003-Aug, 2005 Worship Art 12 Stones Chapel in Kamloops
Worship art is basically painting to what you believe God is telling you, often in a public forum. I did this most Sundays and a few other days for 2 years.

Courses and Workshops

Winter 2008 Art History 152 Smithers, BC
This was a course put on by Brenda Cobill at NWCC. It covered art from the late Byzantine/Gothic period into modern times. During this course I made some friends, learned a bit more about the technicalities of art and was exposed to a side of art that I never realized before.

May 2007 Jack Reid Workshop Smithers, BC
This was a fun time. Jack is quite the character and a few things that he said stuck with me, like "you've gotta light your own fire."
